I. RELATIVE CLAUSES ( MỆNH ĐỀ QUAN HỆ)
Mệnh đề quan hệ là mệnh đề bắt đầu bởi các đại từ quan hệ như who/ whom / which / whose / 
that và các trạng từ quan hệ như where/when. Có hai loại mệnh đề quan hệ: Mệnh đề quan hệ 
xác định (defining) và không xác định (non-defining).
1. Mệnh đề quan hệ xác định.
 Là mệnh đề cần thiết phải có để làm chức năng giới hạn, làm rõ nghĩa danh từ đứng trước 
 nó. Mệnh đề này thường không có dấu phẩy trước và sau nó.
 Eg: I don’t know the girl whom/that you met yesterday. 
2. Mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định.
 Là mệnh đề không cần thiết phải có để làm chức năng giới hạn danh từ đứng trước nó, 
 nghĩa là bản thân danh từ đứng trước nó bổ nghĩa. Vì thế mệnh đề này thường dùng sau 
 danh từ riêng hoặc các tính từ sở hữu ( my, his, her, their, our, its, your), this, that, 
 these, those, thường có dấu phẩy trước và sau nó. 
 Eg: Mr. Pike , who is my neighbor , is very nice.

*Chúng ta phải dùng THAT trong các trường hợp sau:
+Nếu chủ ngữ cần được thay thế trong câu thứ hai là một hỗn hợp từ không cùng loài, tính 
chất. 
 Ex: He is drawing men and field. They look very vivid.
 --> He is drawing men and field that look very vivid.
+Sau tính từ cực cấp và các cụm từ như: the first, the last, the only, ...
 Ex: He is the only man. He can save the boy.
 --> He is the only man that save the boy.
+ Sau các đại từ bất định như: all, anything, nobody, nothing, little, ..
 Ex: -He did nothing that amde me angry.
 -I have never seen anyone that is more interlligent than she.
*Chúng ta không dùng THAT trong các trường hợp sau: 
+Đại từ liên hệ có giới từ đi trước. 6. Is it necessary to have a day to ..............for our parents?
